BSc Business Administration (Economics)

This programme combines the practical side of running a business with the analytical core of economics. It is offered by the Faculty of Economics & Business Administration at Catholic University of Ghana, and entry is less competitive than at some other universities. If you want to understand both how firms work and how the wider economy shapes their choices, this is a solid direction.

What you will actually study

Programmes of this kind usually start with the foundations of management: finance, marketing, organisational behaviour, and strategy. The economics side then adds microeconomics, macroeconomics, and quantitative methods, so you learn to read market data and understand how interest rates, inflation, and trade affect business decisions. By the end, you should be comfortable thinking like both a manager and an economist.

How hard it is to get in

At Catholic University of Ghana, this programme is less competitive to enter. The same programme is highly competitive at KNUST and less competitive at All Nations University, so your options depend on your grades and where you apply. Being less competitive does not mean no requirements — you still need to meet the published WASSCE grades for the programme, so check those carefully.

What you can do with it

Graduates typically move into banking, finance, corporate management, or the public sector. The economics focus makes roles in data analysis, policy work, and economic research possible, while the business side keeps a clear path into management. Many start as business analysts, financial officers, or management trainees before specialising.
