BSc Project Planning and Community Development

This BSc programme combines project planning with community development, giving you the tools to help communities help themselves. It is offered in the Faculty of Planning and Land Management at SD Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies. Entry is less competitive than many other degree courses, but you will still need to meet the university's published requirements.

What project planning and community development is about

Degrees in this field focus on how to design, implement, and evaluate projects that improve life in communities. You learn to assess what people need, plan interventions, work with budgets and timelines, and bring together local residents, government bodies, and other organisations. Because the subject draws on social science and management, you also develop skills in research, communication, and problem-solving.

How competitive is admission?

This programme is described as less competitive, which means that compared to many other degrees at the university, the entry bar is not as high. That does not mean you can ignore the entry requirements – you must still meet the WASSCE subject grades the university publishes for this programme. What you can do after graduation

Most graduates go into project planning and community development roles, often with NGOs, community-based organisations, local government, or international agencies. Common job titles include community development officer, project planner, and monitoring and evaluation officer.
