Check if you qualify

The HND in Tropical Agriculture provides practical training in growing food and managing farm resources in a tropical climate. If you studied Agriculture or General Science at SHS, this programme is a direct path into a hands-on career in agriculture.

What the field covers

Programmes of this kind usually cover crop and animal production, soil health, water management, pest and disease control, and the business side of farming. You learn how to improve yields on small and large farms, use inputs sustainably, and understand how climate and ecosystems affect production. The practical skills you build suit work in the field rather than only in an office.

Entry and who it's for

This is a less competitive programme, meaning it is more accessible than some other HND courses at the university. If you completed SHS with Agriculture or General Science, you already have the background needed to follow the coursework. Like all programmes, you will still need to meet the university's minimum entry requirements, so check your WASSCE results against those before applying.
