B.Sc. Electrical/Electronic Engineering

Electrical and electronic engineering is about designing, building, and maintaining the systems that power and connect our world. This degree at Ashesi University is open to students from General Science, Technical Studies, and Visual Arts backgrounds, and entry is less competitive than at some other Ghanaian universities.

What electrical and electronic engineering covers

Programmes of this kind usually start with the fundamentals of electricity, magnetism, and circuit theory. You will learn how to analyse and design electronic circuits, work with microcontrollers and embedded systems, and understand how power is generated, transmitted, and distributed. Many programmes also cover telecommunications, signal processing, and control systems, so you graduate with a broad set of skills that apply across many industries.

How hard it is to get a place

This programme is less competitive to enter than the same field at some other Ghanaian universities. That means it may be easier to gain admission, but you still need to meet the school's basic requirements. Ashesi's Engineering faculty accepts students from General Science, Technical Studies, and Visual Arts backgrounds, so if you have studied in one of these areas, you are eligible to apply.

What graduates do afterwards

Most electrical and electronic engineering graduates go on to work as engineers in fields like power generation, telecommunications, manufacturing, and electronics design. You might find yourself designing circuits, maintaining electrical networks, developing renewable energy systems, or working on automation and control systems. Some graduates also move into IT, project management, or further study.
