B.Sc. Integrated Science Education

Integrated Science Education is a degree that prepares students to teach science at the basic and senior high school levels. It combines science content with teaching methods, so you learn both the subject matter and how to explain it to others. What integrated science education programmes cover

A programme of this kind usually covers the main science disciplines – biology, chemistry and physics – alongside education theory and practical teaching skills. You will learn how to plan lessons, assess student progress, and make science understandable to learners of different ages. Most programmes also include a teaching practice component where you work in a real classroom before you graduate.

How hard it is to get a place

Entry into this programme is less competitive than into many other degree programmes. That means you are more likely to qualify if your WASSCE results meet the general requirements for admission. The university accepts students from both General Science and Technical Studies backgrounds, so if you studied one of those in SHS, you may be eligible to apply.
