Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering (Metallurgy and Materials)

This degree combines mechanical engineering principles with the study of metals, alloys, ceramics and other materials. It prepares you to understand how materials behave and are processed for use in industry. As a less competitive programme, it is an accessible route into engineering for many SHS leavers.

How hard it is to get a place

Entry to this programme is less competitive than many engineering degrees. The faculty accepts SHS students from General Science, Technical Studies and Visual Arts backgrounds, so if you have an interest in how things are made, it is worth checking whether your grades qualify.
