Check if you qualify

This diploma, offered through the University of Ghana’s Distance Education programme, is for people who want to help adults learn and develop. It covers how to teach and support grown learners in communities, workplaces, and classrooms. The programme is less competitive to enter, making it a practical choice for many applicants.

What adult education involves

Adult education programmes of this kind usually examine how adults learn differently from children. You look at how to plan lessons for grown learners, how to motivate people who have been out of school, and how to run classes that are practical and relevant. The skills you build include teaching, communication, and designing learning activities.

How competitive the place is

This diploma is less competitive to get into. The published requirement is passes (A1–D7) in six subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. If you have those results, you can apply and check whether you meet the subject requirements. Because entry is less competitive, it is a realistic option for many SHS leavers.

Where adult education can take you

Most graduates go into roles where they help adults learn. That includes community education, training within companies, literacy programmes, and development work with NGOs or government. You could find yourself running a training session, organising a community workshop, or supporting adult learners who are returning to school.
