Midwifery programmes of this kind typically combine classroom theory with clinical practice. What midwifery graduates do

Most graduates become midwives, providing care to women during pregnancy, labour, and after childbirth. They also care for newborns and support new mothers with breastfeeding and infant care. With experience, some midwives move into management, teaching, or research in maternal health.

How competitive entry is

Entry to this programme is less competitive than at several other universities in Ghana. For comparison, the University of Health and Allied Sciences, KNUST, and the University of Cape Coast all list their midwifery programmes as highly competitive, while the University of Ghana is competitive. Being less competitive means your chances of getting a place are better, but you still need to meet the university's admission requirements and submit your application by the deadline.
