Entry to the Pharm D at KNUST is highly competitive. The College of Health Sciences considers students from Agriculture, General Science, and Home Economics backgrounds, so your SHS options matter. If you are comparing with other institutions offering the same programme, note that the University of Cape Coast is also highly competitive, while KAAF University College is less competitive. You will need strong grades in your WASSCE to stand a chance, but the university does not publish an aggregate cut-off, so you should check whether your own results meet the subject requirements.
Where a Pharm D can take you
Most pharmacy graduates go into practice as community or hospital pharmacists, where they dispense medicines and advise patients. Others work in clinical pharmacy, collaborating with doctors and nurses to optimise drug therapy. The degree also opens doors in the pharmaceutical industry, including drug research, quality control, and regulatory affairs, as well as in academic teaching and research.
