What studying statistics is actually like

Programmes of this kind focus on probability, statistical modelling, data collection, and data analysis. You learn to make sense of numbers, spot patterns, and draw conclusions from data. Most courses build strong skills in mathematics, computing, and problem-solving, and you apply these to fields like economics, health, agriculture, engineering, and environmental science. Statistics graduates work wherever data matters, which is almost everywhere.

How hard it is to get a place

Entry to this programme is less competitive than at some other Ghanaian universities that offer statistics. For example, both the University of Cape Coast and KNUST list their statistics programmes as highly competitive, while UENR's is less competitive. You will need passes in Core English, Core Mathematics, and Integrated Science, plus at least two electives chosen from Elective Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The college accepts SHS backgrounds in Business, General Science, and Technical Studies, so your secondary school choice does not shut you out.
