Check if you qualify

This degree combines the broad skills of business administration with a focused option in accounting. You will study how organisations work while developing the financial knowledge needed to measure and report their performance. It is a practical field that leads directly to accounting and finance roles in Ghana and beyond.

What the accounting option covers

Programmes of this kind typically cover the core of business administration — management, marketing, organisational behaviour and business strategy — alongside a strand of accounting courses. Expect to learn financial accounting, cost and management accounting, auditing, taxation and financial reporting. The work is methodical and numbers-based, but it also develops judgment, because financial information is used to make big decisions. You will gain a strong practical understanding of how money flows through a business and how financial records are used to keep companies accountable.

How competitive a place is

This programme is less competitive than many other business degrees. That means your WASSCE results do not need to be at the very top, but you must still meet the published entry requirements for Business students at GCTU. The university looks for a Business background at SHS, so your subject combination matters. The same programme at Central University is also less competitive, giving you a realistic chance if you meet the minimum grades.
