BEd. Agricultural Science

The BEd Agricultural Science programme at the University for Development Studies (UDS) is built for students who want to combine a practical understanding of farming and food production with the skills to teach. It sits in the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Sciences and is open to SHS leavers from Agriculture, General Science, and Home Economics backgrounds. What agricultural science education covers

Programmes of this kind usually cover crop and animal production, soil science, agricultural economics, and teaching methods. You build practical skills in working with plants and livestock, alongside the classroom techniques needed to teach agricultural science at SHS level.

How hard it is to get a place

Entry to this programme is less competitive than many other degree courses in Ghana. UDS welcomes applicants who have studied Agriculture, General Science, or Home Economics at senior high school, and if you have the required WASSCE passes in those subjects, you have a strong chance of admission.

Where the degree can take you

Most graduates become senior high school teachers, but the degree does not lock you into the classroom. It also leads to roles in agricultural extension, agribusiness, and rural development, where your knowledge of both farming and communication is valuable.
