How hard it is to get a place

Admission to this programme is less competitive than to many other engineering courses, so your chances are good if you meet the subject requirements. You need credits in any three of Physics, Mathematics, or Geography, and Chemistry can be substituted for Geography. The University of Mines and Technology accepts SHS backgrounds in General Science, Technical Studies, and Visual Arts, so students from these streams are welcome to apply.
