As a student, you develop the ability to assess patients, administer treatments, and support recovery, while also learning to work calmly under pressure and communicate with patients and families.
How competitive the place is
A place in this programme is highly competitive. The University of Cape Coast accepts applications from the General Science track, and the level of competition is similar to the nursing programmes at KNUST and the University of Health and Allied Sciences. It is more competitive than nursing at the University of Ghana and much more competitive than the programme at Catholic University of Ghana. You will need strong WASSCE results to stand a chance; check the university's entry requirements to confirm whether your grades meet the bar.
What you can do after graduating
Most nursing graduates go into clinical roles in hospitals, clinics, and specialised care units. Others work in community health, health education, or hospital administration. With experience, some nurses move into nurse management, teaching, or advanced practice such as midwifery or anaesthesia. The degree also provides a solid base for postgraduate study in public health or health research.
